Solving Your Buyer’s Needs – The Key to Your Online Marketing Success

Solving your buyer's needs should be the primary reason why you create your product.

Your product or service must:

- be valuable for your customers, client or subscribers.
- it must solve their problems
- satisfy their need and fulfill their desire.

This article will guide you through:

- the necessary steps to chose your target market
- how to discover a problem that they want to solve, or a need that they want to satisfy
- creating a product to solve their problem or need that is not currently available to this target market?

You need to choose a topic of interest to you that also has widespread appeal. You will need to make your product interesting and attractive to buyers. Consequently you will need a subject that a broad audience can relate to.

One aspect of developing your personal interest in a topic is to actually use the information you’re offering yourself. That way, when you discuss the benefits of buying your product, you’ll be able to get personal about the experience.

Another important part of choosing your topic is identifying your area of expertise. This doesn’t mean you have to be an “expert." It just means that it will be far easier for you to sell a product you know a lot about, and easier for buyers to part with their hard-earned money when they are purchasing from a knowledgeable source.

Think you don’t have an area of expertise? You may know more than you think. The topics you’re familiar with don’t have to come from a job or college courses.

The success or failure of your business depends mostly on your product or service, your target market and your unique selling proposition (USP).

Your unique selling proposition or USP:

- makes you different from the other businesses selling similar products as you.
- Is your business idea that makes your product stand out from the crowd and make a prospect choose to do business with you instead of your competitor.
- Should target a reasonably sized market and be easy to reach online for you to make a good profit.
- must convince your prospect that your product or service is the definite answer to their needs
- should be the absolute solution to their problems.

Determine your Target Market, your product and service:

- Choose your target market, product or service in relation to what you enjoy doing or areas of interest.
- List every single job you’ve ever held and detail all of your job duties.
- Brainstorm any hobbies, or any subject you might have taken a personal interest in and acted on.
- Where do you go? Are you more likely to spend time at the park or the mall?
- Do you travel a lot, or do you prefer to stick close to home?
- Where have you gone on vacations, and where would you like to go?
- Who do you hang out with? Your choice of friends can tell you a lot about you and the way you relate to others.
- Are most of your friends the same gender as you, or opposite? Where do they live and work?
- Think about the activities you and your friends enjoy together.
- Any common interests you share with your friends can help point you toward a topic you’ll be comfortable promoting.
- Write down all your areas of interest and determine which of these areas have the best chance to help you make a living online.

Ask yourself the following question, can I create a product to solve a problem from my knowledge or skills that is not currently available to this target market?

Do some research online. Find websites related to your areas of interest. Study them. Are they providing anything similar to what you have in mind? Visit some online forums read some of the posting and take notes on what people say they need. If they mention a problem, can you solve it with the product you want to create?

Answer the following questions to help determine if your topic has mass-market appeal:

1. Is your topic in the news a lot?

2. Do you have existing competition?

3. Does your topic appeal to several age groups?

4. Would you or your friends buy a bargain product related to your topic?

5. Does your topic have useful benefits?

If you answered “yes" to at least four of these, you’re on the right track.

If you can't create the product, find a business online that has a product that would solve the problem they mention. If the business has an affiliate program, you can sign for it. If they don't offer an affiliate program, you could approach the product's owner and offer to form a joint venture and receive a good commission for selling that product in your own targeted market.
